Day two was a decadent, busy day!
We started off with breakfast at Pine State Biscuits. This is one of the places I read about over and over in my research and it did not disappoint. So good!
After picking up our rental car, we were off to the coast! We took the 101 the entire way and it was so beautiful! Rich was most excited to drive on this highway and I really could have cared less. But, it ended up being one of my favorite parts of the trip!
During our three hour drive to the coast, we made a few stops along the way. Our first stop was at Wild Rain gallery. After looking around for a few minutes, we purchased the cutting board above for a memento of our trip. We’re planning on remodeling our kitchen soon, and we can’t wait to keep it on our counter to remind us of this day!
Our second shop was the Tillamook Cheese Factory! It was a quick stop filled with cheesiness. We watched cheese and ice cream being made in the factory and then made our way downstairs for samples.
Of course, we got ice cream cones for the road! One last cheesy photo and we were back on the road!
At DOC, we met a nice couple who recommended Tidal Raves in Depoe Bay. So, on our way to our next destination we stopped for dinner and enjoyed fresh seafood with a beautiful view!
My entrée was one of the best salmon dishes I ever had. It was fresh caught salmon with an olive and sun dried tomato tapenade and fingerling potatoes. The salmon was so fresh and the tapenade was interesting but not overpowering. I was so satisfied!
A few more beautiful miles later and we arrived at our destination!
Our reason for visiting Newport? To stay at Rogue’s Brewery’s Bed and Beer! Upon our arrival we were greeted with two cold beers in our fridge. We knew we were in the right place!
The nice people at Rogue upgraded us from a one bedroom to a two bedroom apartment which was comfortable and very nice to stay in. Also, our balcony looked right onto the Newport Bay, which is a working fishing bay!
Of course, our first stop after checking into the B&B was to the actual brewery to check it out. It was the largest capacity brewery we have ever been to and it was really fun to look around.
While we were there, we sampled some of the thirty beers on tap. They had everything from a IPA to a Jalapeño Ale on draft and we were able to sample almost every style of beer.
After visiting the brewery, we went back to the Brewpub for a nightcap pint and dessert! We split the Chocolate Stout Brownie which was the perfect end to our night. The best part of the night after all those beers? Our room was just steps away! We slept well after a busy and exciting day.
